Over the years Fresh from Florida has become a staple to Florida’s agriculture. We caught up with Mike Joyner, assistant commissioner and chief of staff for Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, to talk about Fresh from Florida and some of the advantages that it has for producers in Florida along with successes that they are seeing from the program.
Joyner says that Fresh from Florida was created in 1990 by the Florida legislature and the goal is to promote the Fresh from Florida brand, Florida agriculture, and increase consumer awareness. “We have people all over the world every day promoting Fresh from Florida and I think it’s just a program that is proven effective. We measure the increases in sales, and we do everything on the metrics standpoint so we see firsthand that the consumers, especially in Florida, want Fresh from Florida produce,” says Joyner.
