Joel Nelsen, former president of California Citrus Mutual, has been reappointed to the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee. This committee advises the U.S. secretary of agriculture and the U.S. trade representative on a myriad of policy issues.

Nelsen has served on this committee since the George W. Bush administration. He has been the committee chair for the last four years. The reappointment was announced by U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue and U.S. Trade Ambassador Robert Lighthizer.

“To be able to continue serving in this role is both gratifying and humbling,” Nelsen said.

Nelsen acknowledges that times are stormy, and trade issues remain a big challenge. “Certainly, these past two years have been challenging, and most likely, these disputes will carry on as the administration seeks to balance trade and initiate policies that correct deficiencies in existing agreements.”
