The Senate passed an appropriations minibus package that included critical funds for Florida secured by Senator Rubio (H.R 3055, Commerce, Justice, Science, Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, Interior, Environment, Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Act of 2020).
In his role on the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Rubio secured major funds for Florida’s citrus industry:
- $8.5 million for citrus greening research and response
- $25 million (authorized mandatory levels) for the Citrus Trust Fund
- Report languages highlighting the continued need for citrus greening disease research, Citrus Health Response Program, Huanglongbing Emergency Response, Huanglongbing Multi-Agency Coordination and the Citrus Disease Research Program
Earlier this year, Rubio secured funding for Florida in the fiscal year 2020 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill, which passed the committee last month.
