The application period for Class 11 of Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association’s (FFVA) Emerging Leader Development Program is now open. The submission deadline is July 15.
Since 2011, more than 100 participants have graduated from the program, which develops leaders to be strong advocates for Florida agriculture. Graduates are expected to make lasting contributions to the industry and enhance their careers.
Administered by the Florida Specialty Crop Foundation, the yearlong program starts in October/November at FFVA headquarters in Maitland with sessions on current issues titled “FFVA 101.” The sessions will be conducted by FFVA staff members and other experts. A “Public Policy” session in January 2022 will include meetings with legislators and public officials in Tallahassee. In late February and April 2022, class members will visit specialty crop production areas in Florida. In June or July 2022, they will visit specialty crop production areas in California. The class will graduate during the FFVA Convention in September 2022.
To apply, visit the Emerging Leader Development Program website. Applicants must be between the ages of 25 and 45, part of an FFVA member’s family or company, and working in or pursuing a career in Florida specialty crop agriculture.
