The event’s fresh format will pack plenty of education and fellowship in a single day.
The Florida Grower Citrus Show, scheduled for April 13, is fast approaching. The event opens at 7:30 a.m., and breakfast will be served at 8:00 a.m. Growers and industry stakeholders are invited to sign up for complimentary preregistration.
NEW LOOK AND LOCATION
This year, the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Indian River Research and Education Center and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service, U.S. Horticultural Research Laboratory will co-host the event in Fort Pierce. At these locations, much research is underway to fight HLB and improve specialty crop production.
“We are shaking things up this year to bring growers more value in the time spent at this event. We are condensing the timeframe to one day, but packing a lot into that time,” said AgNet Media Editor-in-Chief Frank Giles. “Plus, we are providing plenty of time for growers to network with peers and the vendors who make the show possible. We aim to make it fun, too. An extended lunch period (11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.) will feature a meal that’s served tailgate style, and growers will be able to vote for their favorites foods. Educational seminars are important at these events, but so is visiting with fellow growers and industry peers. We are providing time for both.”
LOTS TO LEARN
Educational programming will be featured in the morning and afternoon. The morning general session (9:00–11:00 a.m.) will include speakers discussing trends that will be of interest to all Florida growers. In the afternoon, two concurrent sessions (2:00–4:00 p.m.) will take place on citrus and vegetable production.
“We have been working closely with our event partners at the Indian River Citrus League, UF/IFAS and USDA to put together educational presentations that resonate and are relevant to Florida citrus and vegetable growers,” Giles said. “We hope to see growers on April 13. It will be a fun and educational get together.”
