California Citrus Mutual (CCM) each year awards three scholarships to students who are pursuing an education or vocation in the agricultural industry. The deadline to apply for the scholarships is June 1.

CCM HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP
CCM awards a $1,000 scholarship to a qualified high school senior pursuing continued education in an agriculture-related field. An eligible candidate must be a dependent of either a CCM member or CCM member employee. Applicants must submit a resume that includes evidence of leadership skills, extracurricular activity and work history. It also requires a separate one-page essay stating future goals and pursuits and a sealed official transcript. Apply here.

CHARLES COGGINS COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP
Named after the University of California, Riverside plant physiologist whose research on citrus considerably extended the fruits’ fresh market season, the Charles Coggins College Scholarship is a $2,000 scholarship awarded annually to a college student studying agriculture.

Applicants must be enrolled in college, a dependent of a CCM member or a member’s employee and currently pursuing a degree in agriculture, plant science or a related field. Applicants must submit a resume that includes evidence of leadership skills, extracurricular activity and work history. It also requires a separate one-page essay stating future goals and pursuits and a sealed official transcript. Apply here.

HARRISON B. SMITH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
In 2014, the Smith family, who are longtime citrus growers and CCM members, provided a generous donation to the scholarship fund. The Harrison B. Smith Memorial Scholarship is a $2,000 scholarship awarded annually to one Cal Poly student majoring in agriculture. Applicants must submit a resume that includes evidence of leadership skills, extracurricular activity and work history. It also requires a separate one-page essay stating future goals and pursuits and a sealed official transcript. Apply here.

The CCM Scholarship Foundation was founded in 1996 with a substantial endowment from Bayer Crop Science. CCM’s scholarship committee has given out $89,000 to 64 students over the past 27 years.
