Hurricane Milton Added to Loan Program

Eligible Florida farmers, ranchers and growers impacted by Hurricane Milton can apply for low-interest or interest-free loans of up to $500,000, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) announced.

Impacted agricultural producers can learn more and apply here for the Agriculture and Aquaculture Producers Natural Disaster Recovery Loan Program. Loans may be used to restore, repair or replace essential physical property, including fences, equipment, greenhouses and other buildings, or to remove vegetative debris.

The qualifying counties for Hurricane Milton includeAlachua, Baker, Bradford, Brevard, Broward, Charlotte, Citrus, Clay, Collier, Columbia, DeSoto, Dixie, Duval, Flagler, Gilchrist, Glades, Hamilton, Hardee, Hendry, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Indian River, Lafayette, Lake, Lee, Levy, Madison, Manatee, Marion, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Nassau, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Putnam, Sarasota, Seminole, St. Johns, St. Lucie, Sumter, Suwannee, Taylor, Union and Volusia.

Loans are also available for Florida agriculturists who suffered damage from this year’s Hurricanes Helene and Debby.

Applicants must not have accepted financial assistance from another state or federal disaster relief program, which would render an approved applicant ineligible for other financial assistance.

The term of the loans is 10 years.
