Last week, Brooke Rollins was sworn in as the 33rd U.S. Secretary of Agriculture by Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court of the United States Clarence Thomas. The U.S. Senate confirmed Rollins’ appointment by a vote of 72 to 28.

“It is the honor of a lifetime to serve as the nation’s 33rd Secretary of Agriculture — and a privilege beyond description to have the trust of President Donald J. Trump, and the opportunity to advance his agenda. I am thrilled to lead the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and to serve the people of this country,” said Rollins. “Every day, I will fight for American farmers, ranchers and the agriculture community. Together, we have an historic opportunity to revitalize rural America and to ensure that U.S. agriculture remains the best in the world for generations to come.”
Florida Citrus Mutual Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Matt Joyner released the following statement upon Rollins appointment:
“We look forward to working alongside USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins to address the pressing challenges facing Florida’s citrus growers — from the impacts of recent hurricanes to the ongoing battle against citrus greening. Secretary Rollins’ leadership is critical as the nation’s citrus growers champion a strong farm bill and work to secure much-needed funding for citrus research and Florida citrus disaster recovery efforts. With support, growers can continue putting fresh oranges and orange juice on breakfast tables worldwide.”
Rollins is originally from Glen Rose, Texas. Most recently, she served as the founder, president and chief executive officer of the America First Policy Institute.
