The Florida Citrus Show is coming up fast. For many, it’s an annual tradition. For those who have never attended, come prepared to experience a full day packed with fun and education. Here is a quick summary of what the event includes:
THE EDUCATION
The day kicks off with a general session tackling topics that touch all of specialty crop agriculture. Included are topics like labor, what to expect in the ag economy under a new presidential administration and a grower panel discussing HLB survival. After lunch, two breakout sessions will focus on citrus and vegetable production. Check out the full program here.
THE TOURS
In the afternoon, two tours will take place. Visit the U.S. Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service Picos Grove, where HLB trunk-injection therapies are being evaluated. Attendees will also have the opportunity to see the University of Florida’s Millennium Block, where many grapefruit scion/rootstock combinations are being trialed for HLB tolerance.
THE TAILGATE
During lunch, the trade show exhibitors serve a variety of tasty foods tailgate-style. It’s a fun way to visit those who provide the products and services growers need. It also allows for fellowship among growers. The tailgate includes a friendly competition among exhibitors to see who gets the most votes for serving the best food. The winning vendor takes home a cash prize, and attendees who vote for their favorite foods will be entered into a drawing for $500 just for participating.
Don’t miss the learning, fellowship and fun at the Florida Citrus Show!
