The Florida Citrus Show brought together growers and industry for a fun day of camaraderie and education. The event took place March 13 at the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Indian River Research and Education Center and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, U.S. Horticultural Research Laboratory in Fort Pierce. The April issue of Specialty Crop Grower magazine has extended coverage of the event.

During the Florida Citrus Show general session, Editor-in-Chief Frank Giles moderated a grower/packer panel discussion that focused on HLB survival. His Up Front column has highlights from the discussion. Additional Florida Citrus Show coverage in the magazine includes an article on the rest of the general session as well as a summary of research updates from the citrus seminars. Don’t miss the video overview of the show in the digital issue!

In the Citrus Industry section of the magazine, growers will learn how brassinosteroids can improve HLB-affected tree health and fruit quality. UF/IFAS researchers have learned that application timing is critical to get the best results from this plant growth regulator. The article also details the benefits brassinosteroids have on young trees.

Artificial intelligence is gaining traction in agriculture. In his Citrus Nursery Source feature, Peter Chaires takes a look at how this technology could benefit nursery growers in the near future.

Also in the April issue is an update on Citrus Research and Field Trial (CRAFT) Foundation programs. Strong demand from Florida growers for participation has led to the establishment of a waitlist. The article includes information on accessing the CRAFT data portal. In the digital issue, see a video of a grower discussing his CRAFT-funded project.
