The April 10 citrus crop forecast from the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Agricultural Statistics Service (USDA/NASS) showed increases for most citrus-producing states.

FLORIDA

In Florida, grapefruit and tangerine/mandarin crops climbed 8% and 14%, respectively. The Florida grapefruit crop increased by 100,000 boxes, to 1.3 million boxes. The tangerine/mandarin crop rose by 50,000 boxes, to 400,000 boxes.

Florida’s orange crop forecast was unchanged from March at 11.6 million boxes. The state’s non-Valencia harvest is complete for the 202425 season. A March 26–27 row count survey showed that 59% of the Valencia crop was harvested.

“The stable citrus crop estimate really demonstrates the resilience Florida citrus growers have shown in recent years,” said Florida Citrus Mutual Chief Executive Officer Matt Joyner. “Despite devastating storms and the ongoing battle with citrus greening, our growers continue to persevere, and treatments and therapies are helping citrus trees recover.”

Joyner also reiterated that Florida Senate President Ben Albritton in March proposed allocating $200 million for the Florida citrus industry in the 2025–26 state fiscal budget. Of that $200 million, $190 million is proposed for field trials to support grove management, therapeutic tools, new plantings and the rehabilitation of existing trees. CALIFORNIA

California’s non-Valencia orange forecast climbed by 1 million boxes, to 40 million boxes, lifting the state’s total orange forecast to 47.5 million boxes.

California’s grapefruit forecast rose 600,000 boxes, to 4.3 million boxes. Its lemon forecast rose 1 million boxes, to 27 million boxes. The California tangerine/mandarin forecast climbed 1 million boxes, to 26 million boxes.

TEXAS

Texas’ all-orange forecast dipped 20,000 boxes, to 880,000 boxes. Its grapefruit forecast dropped 200,000 boxes, to 2.3 million boxes.

ARIZONA

Arizona’s lemon forecast rose by 50,000 boxes, to 950,000 boxes.
