The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) debuted a new publication at the Citrus & Specialty Crop Expo. The UF/IFAS Citrus Magazine is an Extension initiative to deliver Florida’s geographically dispersed citrus research to growers.
“You can expect three editions per year, featuring articles written by UF/IFAS citrus scientists and Extension faculty across the state,” said Michael Rogers, UF/IFAS statewide citrus research and Extension coordinator and director of the Citrus Research and Education Center, in the August 2025 edition. “Our focus is on research you can use — tools, strategies and insights that can help improve your operation today. We’ll also spotlight promising research that’s on the horizon.”
The inaugural issue was available at the UF/IFAS Citrus Team booth at the Citrus & Specialty Crop Expo held Aug. 20–21 at the Florida State Fairgrounds. Topics addressed in the first issue include:
- Horticultural grove management
- Individual protective covers during hurricane season
- Pest and disease management
- The Millennium Block
- Plant growth regulators
- Crop insurance
The magazine’s editorial committee consists of Rogers, Ute Albrecht, Michelle Danyluk, Megan Dewdney, Lauren Diepenbrock, Mark Ritenour, Ariel Singerman, Matt Smith and Tripti Vashisth. Jamie Burrow and Tonya Weeks are responsible for editorial and graphic design, respectively.
UF/IFAS Citrus Magazine is available in both print and digital formats. The August 2025 digital edition can be viewed here, along with other UF/IFAS publications, Keeping Florida Citrus Growers Informed and the Florida Citrus 2025-2026 Production Guide.
