After low yields in recent years due to hurricanes and HLB, Florida citrus growers are eager to see what the crop forecast will look like for the 2025–26 season. There is some optimism that the cumulative effects of oxytetracycline trunk-injection treatments may improve production this season.

Growers will learn what the initial 2025–26 forecast is when the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Agricultural Statistics Service (USDA NASS) releases the numbers at noon on Oct. 9. USDA NASS will no longer broadcast the crop forecasts via a live phone call, but the forecast reports will continue to be available on the USDA NASS website.

CitrusIndustry.net will also continue its normal monthly coverage of the forecasts.

On Oct. 9, in conjunction with the release of the initial forecast, Florida Citrus Mutual (FCM) will be hosting a board of directors meeting followed by a grower meeting and lunch. The event takes place at Kenny Sanders’ barn in Zolfo Springs. The board meeting begins at 9:00 a.m., and the grower meeting starts at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided by FCM’s Rusty Wiygul.

FCM will be sharing the estimated outlook for the season when it is released during the meeting. The association will also host its annual “Closest to the Estimate” raffle drawing for a Yeti cooler.

“This meeting is an important opportunity for our industry to come together, hear the season’s estimate and celebrate our shared commitment to the future of Florida citrus,” said Matt Joyner, FCM executive vice president and chief executive officer.

Those interested in attending should RSVP to Tamara Wood at tamaraw@flcitrusmutual.com or 863-682-1111.
