Editor’s note: This is the final installment in a series honoring Ben Albritton, the 2025 Citrus Achievement Award winner.

This year’s Citrus Achievement Award winner, Ben Albritton, is excited about the future prospects of agriculture in Florida. As Florida Senate President, he’s ready to take the industry’s priorities to Tallahassee for next year’s legislative session.

HEALTHY CHOICES

Albritton says that raised awareness about health after the COVID-19 pandemic is an opportunity produce growers need to pursue.

“Families across our nation are setting aside ultra-processed, pre-packaged junk food and returning to wholesome, nutritious, Fresh From Florida farm products,” he says. “The food industry is responding to this demand by creating healthier alternatives. Government at all levels is also responding and paying attention, as we see an increased focus on health, wellness and longevity. Florida farm families have a tremendous opportunity and play a key role with this emerging dialogue.”

Albritton adds that Florida citrus will remain a key player in healthy food and juice choices. Last year’s funding from the state legislature solidifies that stance.

FEEDING FLORIDA

Floridians looking out for each other is another priority heading into 2026. The Feeding Florida program is set to reach a whole new level.

“Kids in Florida shouldn’t go to bed hungry night after night,” Albritton says. “We’re better than that, regardless of our politics. By connecting Florida farmers and ranchers directly with local food-distribution channels, we’ve recovered more than 4.6 million pounds of fresh Florida-grown food for families.”

AgNet Media extends a final congratulations to Senator Albritton for being this year’s Citrus Achievement Award winner and expresses appreciation to TJ BioTech for sponsoring the award program.
