The U.S. Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service (USDA FAS) recently projected that production of all citrus varieties in Morocco will increase in 2025–26 compared to the prior year.

TANGERINES/MANDARINS

Morocco’s tangerine and mandarin production is forecast to reach 1.15 million metric tons, up 4% from the previous season.

The area planted in tangerines and mandarins is 59,115 hectares.

Tangerine/mandarin exports in 2025–26 are forecast to reach 550,000 metric tons (MT), an approximate 2% increase from the prior year. The European Union (EU) and Russia continue to be the primary export destination for Morocco’s tangerines and mandarins.

USDA FAS reports no imports of tangerines/mandarins.

ORANGES

For 2025–26, orange production is expected to increase by 1% from the prior year, reaching 970,000 MT.

Planted area for oranges is 58,300 hectares.

Morocco’s orange exports for 2025–26 are forecast to remain in line with 2024–25 levels at 85,000 MT, though still below the five-year average. Moroccan exporters continue to face intense competition from Egypt and Türkiye, where production costs are significantly lower.

No orange imports are reported.

ORANGE JUICE

USDA FAS forecasts Moroccan orange juice production for 2025–26 at 65,000 MT, an 8% increase over the five-year average. This growth is driven by expanded processing capacity.

Moroccan orange juice exports are projected to reach 4,000 MT, about 5% higher than the prior year.

Morocco is expected to import 1,800 MT of orange juice in 2025–26, a decrease of 69 MT over the previous year.

LEMONS/LIMES

Moroccan lemon and lime production for 2025–26 is projected to reach 48,000 MT, about 6% higher than in 2024–25.

Planted area is 3,965 hectares.

Lemon/lime exports are forecast to remain at 10,000 MT, the same as the prior year. West African markets are expected to remain the leading destination, followed by the EU.

No lemon/lime imports are reported.
