A Citrus Nursery Production Guide is expected to be published by the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) in five or six months.

“We are going to cover the basics of nursery production,” said UF/IFAS researcher Rhuanito (Johnny) Ferrarezi. “Then we will help (with) selecting varieties. We will talk about … how to clean material, how to propagate and different propagation methods.” Topics will include the environment, fertilization, irrigation, pests and diseases.

Ferrarezi, who works at the Indian River Research and Education Center in Fort Pierce, said although the UF/IFAS citrus team is leading the nursery production guide effort, U.S. Department of Agriculture collaborators “will be supporting us.” Also, some citrus nurserymen are “helping us with the more practical information,” Ferrarezi added.
