Landon Hoffman will become director of government affairs for grower organization Florida Citrus Mutual on Jan. 9, 2023.
Hoffman joins Mutual from Congressman Neal Dunn’s office, where he served as campaign manager for this year’s reelection. Prior to that, Hoffman was Dunn’s district director. In that role, he oversaw district operations and served as staff for the congressman on the U.S. House Agriculture Committee, U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee and the U.S. House Science, Space and Technology Committee.
In between roles supporting Dunn, Hoffman worked as deputy director of state government affairs for the Florida Farm Bureau Federation. In that capacity, he was an effective voice for Florida farmers and worked to engage federation members in the policymaking process.
Florida Citrus Mutual stated in a press release that Hoffman brings experience managing policy and politics on both the federal and state level. At Mutual, he will be responsible for advancing the policy priorities of Florida citrus growers while navigating the complex regulatory environment.
“Landon Hoffman has been a strong advocate for Florida farmers in the state Capitol, and he brings firsthand experience working for Florida members of Congress in our nation’s Capitol,” said Matt Joyner, chief executive officer of Florida Citrus Mutual. “With research, new treatments and new disease-tolerant trees, Florida’s iconic citrus industry is on the verge of an upswing. But we need the support of our lawmakers as we recover and rebuild. Florida’s citrus growers are glad to have Landon Hoffman on the team, advocating for our priorities and tackling the challenges that come our way.”
“This opportunity to advocate for Florida citrus growers combines my professional experience with my passion for agriculture,” said Hoffman. “I’m excited to be a part of the industry’s comeback.”
Hoffman is a Florida native. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Mississippi in 2016. He and his wife, Lili, live in Tallahassee, where his job will be based. He plans to spend time at Florida Citrus Mutual in Bartow and in the groves across the state.
Florida Citrus Mutual, founded in 1948, represents nearly 2,500 grower members. It is the state’s largest citrus grower organization.
