The Citrus Administrative Committee (CAC) is actively seeking nominations for a new committee member to complete a two-year term ending August 2026.
U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service policy is that the diversity of the board should reflect the diversity of its industries in experience of members, methods of production and distribution, marketing strategies and other distinguishing factors that will bring different perspectives and ideas to the table. When submitting nominations, the industry must consider the diversity of the population served and the knowledge, skills and abilities of the members to serve a diverse population. All interested parties are encouraged to participate.
The CAC consists of 10 grower members and 10 alternate members. Grower members produce Florida citrus fruit for the fresh market. Such growers must produce fruit in the production area south and east of the Suwanee River. Grower members may be persons who, in addition to being producers, are shippers or employees of shippers.
Those interested in serving are asked to contact CAC Manager Peter Chaires at peter@citrusadministrativecommittee.org. Nominations must be received by Nov. 11.
A list of interested persons will be compiled. A vote will be taken at a Nov. 14 CAC meeting. All interested parties are welcome to attend. A final nominee will be submitted to the secretary of agriculture.
The CAC administers Federal Marketing Order 905. It sets minimum grades and size standards for fresh Florida citrus that is shipped interstate and exported to assure an orderly market for the fruit. The CAC is overseen by the USDA, which must approve the nominees for committee membership.
