During the recent International Fruit and Vegetable Juice Association (IFU) conference held in Brazil, IFU honored Fundecitrus for its contributions to the citrus industry.
Fundecitrus is an association maintained by citrus growers and juice manufacturers from São Paulo, Brazil. The association aims to foster the sustainable development of the Brazilian citrus industry. Its mission includes developing research, disseminating knowledge and transferring technology to combat citrus diseases like HLB.
IFU recognized Fundecitrus for more than 47 years of work to advance citrus farming. The recognition focused on Fundecitrus’ applied research, technical support to producers and development of tools and technologies such as Psyllid Alert, harvest estimates, citrus census and disease research. Fundecitrus also recently launched the Good Fruits program, aimed at adoption of legal practices in labor relations.
Juliano Ayres, Fundecitrus executive director, received a symbolic trophy during the ceremony and highlighted the importance of the moment. “It is a great honor to receive an award like this,” Ayres said. “It shows that all the work developed is being recognized by international entities that closely monitor the sector. It is a collective recognition, which represents the dedication of the entire Fundecitrus team over the years.”
Researchers Nelson Wulff and Patrícia Monteiro also participated in the ceremony.
Approximately 280 participants from several countries attended the 2025 IFU conference. Attendees included juice industry distributors, suppliers, association executives and university researchers.
During the conference, the international participants visited the Fundecitrus headquarters in São Paulo. The visit was part of the event’s official program and aimed to provide a closer look at Fundecitrus’ structure, its research lines, monitoring tools and work with producers. Guests were able to learn about the areas of activity and field support systems developed by Fundecitrus. The experience was also an opportunity to demonstrate Fundecitrus’ efforts in innovation, sustainability and addressing the main challenges facing Brazilian citrus farming.
