The Citrus Research and Field Trial (CRAFT) Foundation has been a lifeline to Florida’s citrus industry in the battle against HLB. CRAFT’s programs provide incentives for new plantings and existing tree therapies in exchange for growers submitting data for those projects. CRAFT then analyzes that data for trends and potential solutions.
Another key mission of CRAFT is sharing the results of its analysis and the knowledge that is gained by growers participating in the programs. During the Florida Citrus Show, a session will provide details on what has been learned in the groves. A demonstration of the web-based data portal will be given, showing growers how to access the information being collected through CRAFT programs. This information could be helpful for growers making decisions about what rootstocks and varieties to plant and what production practices to implement.
In addition to the demonstration, a panel of growers participating in CRAFT programs will be presented. They will share their experiences and how CRAFT projects are impacting citrus production.
Don’t miss the Florida Citrus Show scheduled for March 12 at the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Indian River Research and Education Center and the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Research Service U.S. Horticultural Research Laboratory in Fort Pierce.
