Freeze Alerts by Phone for California Citrus Growers

Len WilcoxCalifornia Corner, Weather

California Citrus MutualFreeze alerts by phone will be available this winter for California citrus growers. California Citrus Mutual (CCM) is implementing a new system to help Central Valley growers stay updated on freeze alerts. Growers can sign up for text notifications to be alerted when the CCM Central Valley Weather Watch forecast is updated. This will include updates during critical nights.

To sign up for this free alert system, text the word WEATHER to 33222. No personal information is needed to start receiving the alerts. To stop receiving the alerts, simply text the word STOP to the same number (33222).

Alert texts will be sent out if a widespread frost or freeze is likely. Along with the updated alert will be a link to the CCM website with the forecast information on the weather watch chart, making it quick and easy to access the new information.

More information about CCM’s Central Valley Weather Watch is available online at the CCM website.

The operators are requesting users provide feedback on the program. Contact Lauren Droogh, program coordinator, at 559-592-3790 or Lauren@cacitrusmutual.com with any questions, concerns or suggestions on the text alert system.
