Labor is a perennial issue specialty crop growers must continue to deal with. Many growers in the Southeast have turned to the H-2A temporary agricultural visa program to source labor that is required on their farms.

While the program has its challenges, it has become vital in securing production and harvest of specialty crops. Jamie Fussell, director of labor relations with the Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association, will be speaking on the labor situation and H-2A during the Florida Citrus Show on March 13 in Fort Pierce.

He will cover a number of topics, including the significant increases in the adverse effect wage rate (AEWR) that growers in Florida and other southeastern states have faced in recent years. The AEWR has been the subject of ongoing litigation in several states.  Don’t miss this opportunity to get important labor updates. Register for the Florida Citrus Show today!
