Fundecitrus reported that Brazilian orange juice magnate José Luis Cutrale died Aug. 17 in London, England.
Fundecitrus issued the following comments:
“José Luis Cutrale worked in several areas of activity: in the commercialization of fruits, in the cultivation of citrus and in the orange juice industry.
“With his very high level of entrepreneurship, he raised the name of Brazil internationally, taking the best quality to various markets. Much of the respect and leadership that Brazil has in the citrus industry comes from his vision, capacity and courage to achieve.
“He was an enthusiastic and unconditional supporter of this institution, as he believed in the strength of the sector itself, through partnerships, to face the challenges inherent to the business, as well as in the sharing of knowledge among all and in the incorporation of technologies aimed at the sustainable development of the supply chain.”
Fundecitrus is an association maintained by citrus growers and juice manufacturers from the state of São Paulo, Brazil, to foster the sustainable development of the citrus industry.
In 2021, law firm PGMBM reported it had secured a London High Court judgment that would result in Cutrale facing trial over his participation in an illegal cartel; learn more here.
